Counsellor and Trainer

Are you looking for a safe, confidential space to talk through feelings and experiences you are finding difficult?

Areas of Expertise

Counselling - Relationship issues, domestic abuse and trauma, fertility issues as well as life issues such as job changes, life stresses and bereavement.
Training - I have taught counselling at a local FE college for a number of years. I have experience working with learning disabilities, health issues and their impacts on the person and those around them.

About Me

I believe we all have potential and strengths within us which at times we can need support to access. Counselling offers a time that is yours, away from the stresses and demands of everyday life, where together we can work towards a more peaceful way of being for you.

I work in a way which makes sure you feel at the heart of our time together. By being in a non-judgemental, empathic environment that is warm, confidential and secure you can open up and talk to me about what is bothering you. I am trained in Person Centred Approach, Transactional Analysis and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and other modalities such as Psychodynamic ways of working. I believe you know yourself better than anyone and that as your counsellor I am here to listen and support you as we explore the issues you wish to bring.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

I have an Integrative Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and work as a counsellor and trainer. I have additional qualifications and experience working with domestic abuse, child abuse, FGM and trauma as well as with disability, learning difficulties and with people with a variety of significant health conditions. I hold certificates in understanding Mental Health as well as working with vulnerable adults, child protection, data protection, equality and diversity.

I have a background working with women as part of a Women's Centre dealing with the complex feelings around living with and moving on from relationship difficulties, domestic abuse and fertility issues such as miscarriage and stillbirth. I appreciate how hard it can be to seek support when you are either in or trying to move on from a difficult relationship. I have both training and experience working with women to support them through this time.

In addition I have worked for many years with young people as well as people with disabilities and learning difficulties in a variety of capacities and have worked for a young people's counselling agency. I have also worked in a secondary school as a counsellor where I worked with many issues including exam stress, life changes, pressure of transition and family problems.

Issues I have experience working with include:

  • Domestic abuse

  • Child and sexual abuse including working with non-abusing parents

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Self harm

  • Anxiety

  • Health problems

  • Work problems

  • Stress

  • Depression

  • Fertility issues including living through IVF, stillbirth and miscarriage

  • Bereavement

  • Young people
